![]() | Scissor Fiend Release date: 10/18/2003 "Oh, a puppy! I've always wanted a puppy!" Vendetta gives Charlotte a pointy new friend. Plot Summary After watching Charlotte go down the slide and scream "WHEE!" for the umpteenth time, Vendetta demands she stop. Charlotte does so and immediately starts asking Vendetta if she wants to slide too, which offends the green girl even more. Charlotte then asks if she wants to pretend to be various things (such as postal workers, astronauts, or accountants) only to get the same response. After this, Charlotte finally decides to just play by herself as "all her friends are busy". This is when Vendetta gets an idea - she'll make a fiend exclusively for Charlotte to "play" with.
Later on, we see Vendetta ringing the doorbell to Charlotte's house. Charlotte answers, but Vendetta is nowhere to be seen. Instead there is a small box adorned with a note addressed to Charlotte. She opens the box, only to be greeted by a small fiend with a long, sharp beak. The Scissor Fiend immediately jumps out and runs all over Charlotte's yard, cutting up everything it finds (including Charlotte's house itself) However, Charlotte doesn't seem to care, and believes the fiend is a "puppy". She then holds her hand out to the Scissor Fiend, who responds by snapping at it. We don't see the impact as the screen goes black.
Cut to the next day at school. Mr. Milk is about to start class when he realizes Charlotte isn't there. He asks if anyone knows where she is, and Vendetta scarily informs him that "perhaps her new pet gave her trouble". This of course horrifies Mr. Milk, but he decides to continue on with class. That doesn't last long, however, as an oddly Charlotte-shaped hole is suddenly sawed through the door, surprising everyone.
Charlotte then walks in through the hole, apologizing for being late. Vendetta is baffled at her still having all of her limbs (let alone being alive) Charlotte thanks Vendetta for the "new friend" - that being Scissor Fiend, who now seems to be acting friendly. She says he is very useful and shows off his ability to sharpen pencils as well as cut people's hair (which Vendetta finds amusing until he cuts off one of her pigtails) Enraged, Vendetta demands to know what Charlotte did to the fiend. Charlotte explains that she gave him lots of love. She calls him a good friend, but then says she has an even better friend - Vendetta. She then gives Vendetta a paper snowflake with an image of her face in the middle (made by Scissor Fiend) causing Vendetta to scream in terror.
We have this episode to thank for giving us Buttons 2, one of the greatest characters in all of fiction. But really, I do love him. He's so cute! I'm glad they kept him as a returning character. Also, when I watched this with my dad he laughed really hard at the part where Vendetta's pigtail got cut off for some reason. I felt like I should mention that.
This is also the first time we see Charlotte doing the "whee" thing, which is one of my favorite things in the universe. It's so stupid but always makes me giggle. Also that but with the part where Charlotte's house gets sliced in half.
This was an episode that they kind of had to remake for TV. It's pretty good. And that version's even better (but we're not there yet) Altogether another great episode. Up next, one of my personal favorites...Halloween!
